WIP Wednesday

I didn't file my report last week. Just didn't do it.

So this week, I have a lot to show.

I started this project. I'll show you the finished project next week (or so).

Melissa wanted me to make her a composition notebook cover. She said she thinks mine is cool. How could I say no??? She wanted purples and blues. I added the sugar skulls. This kid has had skulls on her shoes for a couple of years now. Who knew there were so many different pairs of shoes with skulls???

I finally made myself an embroidery pouch. It's about 12 inches square. I couldn't decide which fabric to use, so I used them both. It's a very simple bag. But colorful.

You have to know by now that when I finished my embroider pouch, Melissa wanted one a bit smaller for a pen/pencil pouch. It's called "Alien Guts".

And here are the Alien Guts. In case you ever wanted to know what's inside aliens.

And here is the reason for all of these smaller projects.

HST's being sewn.

HST's right before the cutting.

HST's bring opened and finger pressed.
I didn't take a picture of the ironing. But it happened.

HST's to be trimmed to size.
The little pile in the front is what I have trimmed so far.
It's going to take a little while.

I was inspired by THIS QUILT.

Little mocked up block. I couldn't wait to see how they would look.

And here is my cheap version of a digi mocked up quilt.
The plan is to use various shades of red squares.

My nephew is getting married in July. I really want to make a quilt for him and his bride. BUT, the grays get to me after a little and I have to take a "Color" break.

Thus the reason for all of the "other" projects thrown in here.

My oldest looked at the Going Coastal project and said, "No wonder you never get anything finished." She's NOT a quilter. At all.
And with that attitude, she never will be one.

Friday Fill-Ins

1. When we sigh alone in the woods, does it make any noise?

2. Zombies only die if you chop their head off.

3. It'll be nice all weekend.

4. Africa is a place I always wanted to visit, but haven't yet.

5. When I'm sad I am usually quiet; when I'm happy I am usually energetic.

6. I would like to get to know more about my community.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to checking out the hubby's new car, tomorrow my plans include some cleaning, some cooking and some sewing (gosh, I sound like I belong in the 50's) and Sunday, I want to sleep in and sew some more!

WIP Wednesday

It's time to tally up the craziness again:

Cut 2 yards of fabric, one solid red and one cream with tiny dots, into 5" squares for a swap I am in. Have these in the envelope and ready to mail tomorrow.

Cut 5 yards of 5 different greys into 4"squares to start my nephews wedding quilt. I just need 30 squares of various shades of red and I'll be piecing away. I am hoping to use the charms I get from the swap above.

Made a cathedral window pincushion for another swap. Also making a coordinating mini-notebook cover. (I am SO addicted to hexies right now.) And a bottle cap pincushion. And a bookmark with the scraps. I bought sand to put in the pincushions, but have decided that I want to go with crushed walnut shells, so I have to wait to finish until I can get some.

Made progress on the blue and pink hexie project. I'll show you the finished project soon. No pictures. You'll have to check back on Sunday. It's for the next challenge on the Order of the Opus Gluei. I'll also have another little project to share for the challenge. Okay, that's all I can say right now. "They" might be reading this.

Sewed the binding strips together for Melissa's quilt. Now I just have to get it onto the quilt.

Made 12 each 3.5" quilting ninja blocks (yup, another swap). I have given my swap partners the choice of scissors or no scissors. So far everyone wants the scissors.

And 12 each 3.5" house blocks (same swap, different group of partners.) I think they're cute, but still need a little something. Hmmm??? I think they look really summery.

I think that's enough for one week. Don't you?

I'm linking up to Lee's WIP Wednesday.

WIP Wednesday

It's that time of week again. Time to pony up what I've been doing. And what I am working on. So, here goes:

Garden Blocks
Tulips and Butterflies

I had to remake the blocks for the March do.Good Stitches blocks. The originals got lost in the mail. I hope they get found and used for something good. This time I used delivery confirmation. Cross your fingers and hope for the best with me.

And I made this month's do.Good block. This time we were to pick a color and make a 6.5 inch by 48.5 inch strip. I picked orange. Because it's so cheery.

I've also been working on hexies. It's a little project that I'll reveal to you May 20th. It'll still be in progress, but I'll get to show you more. Here's the blue sneak peek:

And the pink sneak peek:

There are also other things going on.

No finishes to report.

But lots of fun in the making.

I LOVE Grannies

These are pretty easy to make. The hardest part is picking the fabrics. And then sending them off to swap partners. Letting them go isn't easy at all. I fell in love with each of these color combos. Maybe I'll have to make a whole quilt in this pattern.

For now, I get to keep the purple/yellow/gray block. It's for Megan's college quilt. She will start college in 2013. Yup, I know it's a ways off. But I tend to procrastinate. A lot.
This swap was in a couple of months ago and I am just now posting the pictures.

I have some other swaps I need to post too. Soon. Real soon...

Beyond the Garden Gate...

What's beyond your Garden Gate? That's what Poobah Rosemary of The Order of The Opus Gluei wants to know. She's asking us to be inspired by gardens and the contents of gardens.

I have this cute little crochet flower garland that I have been working on. I was going to use that for this challenge. BUT I found out that a couple of the quilt blocks that I make for do.Good Stitches over on Flickr got lost in the mail. Of course I offered to re-make them. So this is my contribution to the Garden this week:

It'll replace this one:

I still have to make a butterfly block to replace this one:

Maybe after I get it done, I'll finish that flower garland.
