Honest to goodness conversation with Melissa yesterday after I picked her up from school.
(A little background - She forgot to bring home her writing notebook and her spelling words home with her the night before. But she assured me that she could do the work in the morning before school started. She usually gets there early enough for me to be comfortable with this solution. I also explained to her that this was not to be a normal operating procedure. She said she agreed.)
Me: Melissa, did you do your homework this morning? You know, the assignment that you forgot to bring home?
Melissa: No. I didn't have time. My teacher didn't look at the homework today. She is going to check it out tomorrow. I will do it tonight. I guess that will cut it.
Translation - "She'll never know. I can get away with it."
Oh, the mind of an 8 year old con artist.

Yessirree, that is MY goddaughter. (sniff) I am so proud.
That was ME....I'm still like that, doing everything at the last possible minute.
Yep, she sounds bright as a button! I would have loved her in my class....

OH, and kudos for being the #1 Quoted winner on Cathy Z's blog for the Bazzill mini book thingy. Will you still be my friend or are you going all Provo on me?
